⚠️ POTION RECIPE TESTING PROTOCOL ⚠️

Required Testing Before Event

🚨 IMPORTANT: RECIPES NOT YET TESTED

The recipes provided in employee-recipes.html are theoretical ratios based on chemistry principles, NOT tested formulas.

All recipes MUST be tested and adjusted before the event.

Chemistry Status

✓ What's Proven (Chemistry Science):

✗ What's NOT Proven (Specific Ratios):

Test Each Recipe For:

1. Visual Effect

  • Does the effect work as described?
  • Is the effect dramatic/impressive enough?
  • Does it last long enough for guests to appreciate?
  • Any safety concerns observed?

2. Ratio Adjustments

  • Is the portion size appropriate (4oz target)?
  • Do ingredients need more/less of certain components?
  • Does fizzing overflow the cup?
  • Is foam thick enough or too thick?
  • Is color change visible and dramatic?

3. Taste Test

  • Is it drinkable/pleasant?
  • Any off-flavors or textures?
  • Temperature appropriate?
  • Would kids/adults enjoy this?

4. Practical Concerns

  • How long does prep take per potion?
  • Can ingredients be prepped in advance?
  • Are measurements easy for staff to execute quickly?
  • Any mess/cleanup issues?

Phase 1: Individual Recipe Testing (1 Week Before Event)

Test each potion recipe 3 times, adjusting ratios as needed.

Testing Timeline

📅 Phase 2: Bulk Prep Testing (3-4 Days Before Event)

📅 Phase 3: Staff Training (2 Days Before Event)

📅 Phase 4: Final Dress Rehearsal (1 Day Before Event)

Known Issues to Watch For

Potion Potential Problem Solution
Dragon's Breath Dry ice pieces too large = takes too long to dissolve Use smaller pellets (~1" or less)
Dragon's Breath Staff forgets to remove dry ice Visual checklist at station, mandatory wait time
Moonlight Brew Tonic water loses quinine potency over time Use fresh tonic water, test UV glow before event
Moonlight Brew Too much lemonade kills glow May need to increase tonic ratio (3oz tonic, 1oz lemonade?)
Foam Cloud Not enough foam produced Increase egg white powder or shake longer
Foam Cloud Too much foam overflows Reduce liquid amount or use larger shaker bottles
Phantom Fizz Reaction too explosive, overflows cup Reduce baking soda amount or use taller cups
Phantom Fizz Fizz dies too quickly Add baking soda last, serve immediately
Witch's Wisdom Tea too weak, color change not visible Brew stronger tea (more flowers, longer steep time)
Witch's Wisdom Sprite makes it too pale Reduce sprite amount or use clear soda water instead

🆘 Emergency Backup Plans

If a recipe fails during testing, use these simplified alternatives:

  1. Dragon's Breath - Replace with hot chocolate + mini marshmallows (simpler, no dry ice risk)
  2. Moonlight Brew - Can work with just tonic water + glitter (skip lemonade)
  3. Foam Cloud - If foam fails, serve as regular sprite with glitter
  4. Phantom Fizz - Reduce to just baking soda in juice (simpler volcano)
  5. Witch's Wisdom - Pre-mix tea + sprite, have guests add lemon juice only

The chemistry works, but the specific ratios need verification.
